Lake Arrowhead Outlet tower, what is it? If you have ever been on Lake Arrowhead or driven by it on Hwy 173, you might be curious about what it is.

The Tower stands 43 feet above the water when the lake is full. It is the outlet tower located approximately 500 feet off Eagle Point in 145 feet of water, according to the original contour map of the lake bottom in that area.
The tower is a reinforced concrete structure that was completed and dedicated on July 5, 1908. Originally of tower was to release water to the reservoir for irrigation of crops in the San Bernardino Valley. Now the tower is to maintain our water level of the lake, it does not go to irrigate the valley and hasn't in many decades. Use of the tower outlet system for the lake level control during a major storm event is not very significant since lake level can only be lowered about nine inches in 24 hours.
